About Me

I'm Lucy Bowler, originally from Buckinghamshire but now studying at Southampton Solent University doing the BA Make Up And Hair Design course. It's only been two weeks and I feel like I am fully settled in and ready to start this journey to my chosen career. Before uni, I've mainly taught myself when it comes to make up, I've always been a lover of art and design so make up came to me quite easily. I studied Art, Photography and Media at A Level, all of which has broadened my knowledge of the design world and inspired me to always be creating. Make up has always been linked with everything I do. For instance I chose to make a music video that educated on violence rather than glorified it. Not only did I direct and edit the whole thing, but I also created the Make up looks in the production. 

As well as Media, I used a lot of my make up during my photography when studying Macabre as there were so many looks I could do with that. Other than my own work I've not had much experience. I assisted a face paint artist during the production of Alice In Wonderland at the theatre, where I was in charge of some of the main characters make up, due to so many characters being needed at the same time. I also went to a day course on theatre make up in Milton Keynes near to where I live, where we learnt the basics of prosthetics and theatrical makeup. Although I only washed and dried hair, I also had 2 years experience at a local hairdressers.
