Colour Theory- Practicle

After looking into colour theory in detail, we started to look at colour harmony in a little more detail. As a make up artist we have to know what colours work together and what colours would look awful when put together. I have created two make up charts and two make up looks for these for colour harmonies; Analogous, Complementary, Achromatic and monochromatic.

Analogous
The three colours I chose were two shades of blue and a green that were next to each other on the colour chart. This is not a look for everyday, and has more of a dramatic, editorial look about it.

Complementary Colours
I chose the complementary colours of greens and purple which is shown in my colour chart here. For this look I went for something that was a bit more wearable day to day.

Monochromatic Colours
I chose to do different shades of orange, as I feel its a colour I wouldn't use in day to day wear unless on my lips, so I wanted to experiment with it a little more. Obviously this isn't a look for the streets but I like the dramatic shades next to the softer shades and i think it was actually quite successful. I used this face chart to then create the look on a model, I had to change some elements of my design, for instance the orange supra colour I used on the eye's in the chart aren't meant to be used on the eye's on a person, so I had to use a powder orange and mix it with water to create the boldness I wanted.

Achromatic Colours

This was my favourite look as I love the dramatic feel that black and white give together. In the eyes I started with a mod theme and then blended it all out and added large feathered eyelashes to give it texture. Once again with the contour, eyelashes, lips and blending I don't think this is a every day look however the original eye theme could be worn out.
